Chief Minister for relocation of tribals living atop hills

VIZIANAGARAM: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked officials to conduct a survey of tribal families living atop hills and relocate them at safer places.

The Chief Minister visited Duddikallu in Gumma Lakshnmi Puram mandal on Saturday and consoled the bereaved families of Vanakabadi where 11 tribals were killed in landslips.

He distributed cheques for Rs.50,000 to kin of each family and Rs.5,000 each to two injured persons. He said all the 83 families of Vanakabadi would be rehabilitated at Vandidisandi where the Government had decided to acquire three acres of land from one Puvvala China Rao at the rate of Rs.20,000 per acre.

The Chief Minister gave away Rs.1,200 as compensation to each of 39 fully damaged houses and 44 partially damaged houses in Vanakabadi. He announced assistance of Rs.60,000 to each family for purchasing cattle/sheep and sanctioned Rs.2,00,000 to six groups under community investment fund for starting business.
