KOCHI: There cannot be peace sans justice. Much of the internal and external problems that countries face are because of lack of justice, peace activist and former Chief of Indian Navy Admiral Ramu Ramdas has said. Speaking at a reception organised by Peace Boat at the Toc-H Public School here on Sunday in connection with the 61st anniversary of the United States dropping the atom bomb on Hiroshima, he said that peace is the sole strategy, which ultimately wins. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Amano, who survived the Hiroshima bombing as a 14-year-old, relived memories of the horrible day. "I was working in a factory, since even students were involved in the Second World War. I survived since the factory had thick walls. But members of my family were not as lucky, since our house was located near the place where the bomb was dropped." Two years later, she began to work as a teacher at an elementary school. Cruise director of Peace Boat Nakahara Daini said that countries should forgive opponents and learn from past mistakes. A slide presentation on the effects of the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and rendition of peace songs too were held.
