HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway along with Irrigation and Revenue officials has begun monitoring the flood situation and water levels in irrigation tanks and reservoirs close to the railway tracks to prevent any untoward incident.

Round-the-clock patrolling of tracks have been undertaken at all sections as part of the special vigil even as the authorities kept a watch at headquarters and divisional control rooms, according to a SCR press release .

The SCR authorities had made elaborate arrangements and took preventive steps due to incessant rain lashing parts of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the last two days to ensure safe running of the trains under its jurisdiction. All vulnerable locations near the railway tracks and bridges are being constantly under vigil . A large number of manpower and materials have been deployed as a precautionary measure at all vulnerable locations and arrangements made to monitor overflowing of water on the tracks and bridges, breaches to irrigation tanks and flash floods.

These steps resulted in normal running of trains in the zone except for small sections, like a few hours delay between Jammikunta and Hasanparthi on the Balharshah-Kazipet section of Secunderabad division due to water overflowing on bridges .
