The Indian High Commissioner in Colombo had requested the Ceylon Government to postpone using the Kachcha Tivu in the Palk Strait as a practice bombing and gunnery range until the question of its ownership was clarified, Prime Minister Nehru told the Lok Sabha on August 6. The records on the subject, he added, were now under examination.
