Seminar on library services to be inaugurated tomorrow
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Bangalore University, along with the Indian Academic Library Association and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), has organised a national seminar on "Best practices in Library and Information Services" from August 9 to 12. To be inaugurated by Higher Education Minister D.H. Shankaramurthy, the event was aimed at enhancing the quality of services offered by college libraries in particular.
About 500 library and information professionals, mostly from colleges accredited by NAAC, are expected for the seminar. The outcome of the seminar's deliberations will provide for documenting best practices in the field, said Vice-Chancellor H.A. Ranganath.
He told presspersons here on Monday that the seminar would give exposure to library and information professionals on the need to standardise their services and practices.
"It is a step towards inducting a professional approach in the service sector, particularly in libraries," he said.
The seminar will see 172 papers, including about 100 case studies on "best practices" followed in different libraries.
