MROs told to speed up process for input subsidy

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: District Collector Dasari Kadmial on Monday directed the Mandal Revenue Officers to immediately send information required for crop loss compensation sanctioned by the State Government in the form of input subsidy to farmers who had suffered groundnut crop loss in the 2005 kharif season and did not get the crop insurance benefit.

In a review meeting he stated that the Government had sanctioned Rs. 83 crores to lend a helping hand to farmers who had suffered heavy crop loss last year. Further delay in disbursement of the benefit would send wrong signals, he said.

Several MROs attributed the delay in sending the details to bankers stating that the latter had given incomplete information about the farmers who had secured crop insurance benefit. A few of them also blamed it on incomplete pattadar passbooks.

Joint Collector Anita Rajendra and District Revenue Officer M. Sudarshan Reddy also participated in the meeting.
