All-party team to meet Manmohan today
Special Correspondent
Bangalore:
An all-party delegation from the State will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday to counter Maharashtra's claim to Belgaum and draw attention to the floods in five districts of north Karnataka.
Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and others left for New Delhi on Monday.
The delegation to the Prime Minister was decided upon following a similar all-party delegation from Maharashtra that met him recently on the Belgaum issue. The decision to press for Central assistance to deal with the situation caused by the floods was taken in the last few days.
The delegation will also raise the issue of the State taking up the Kalasa Banduri Nala Project to provide drinking water to Hubli-Dharwad, which has been opposed by Goa.
Earlier in the day, Water Resources Minister and BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa said the delegation would impress upon the Prime Minister the need to prevail upon Maharashtra not to rake up the border dispute again and again.
