Tension in Patna varsity after shooting incident

PATNA: Tension gripped the Patna University campus after two students of the Science College were injured in a when the bodyguard of the proctor of the university allegedly opened fire over a ragging incident on Monday.

The injured students, Rohit and Anil, have been admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested the proctor K.P. Sinha. He denied he was present at the place at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the proctor tried to intervene when junior students protested against ragging by seniors. On seeing the proctor, the seniors took to their heels but his bodyguard allegedly opened fire.

Students on

the war path

Soon after, the students blocked the administrative building and indulged in arson demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.

They said the agitation would continue till their demands were conceded.

A police force has been deployed around the campus.
