DISARRAY: Haphazard parking of vehicles causes problem to public and hawkers at the Gandhi Market. Photo: R.M. Rajarathinam
It may be true that the Gandhi Market in Tiruchi presents a crowded sight at any time of the year. The extent of patronage for the market is such. Yet, it is also true that regulation of parking at certain points in the sprawling market would serve the interests of the public as well as the wayside hawkers better. Disarray at the portion of the market where the jaggery wholesale transactions are made is a case in point.
Parking of two-wheelers
Due to the parking of two-wheelers on the sides, hawkers find themselves pushed to the middle of the road, obstructing the path meant for movement of buses and the public.
