Kerala
The condition of the roads in the district, including many stretches of the national highway, leaves much to be desired. The pathetic state of the national highway passing through the State, especially the Kannur-Thalassery stretch, is much more serious. A road journey on this route is literally a physical and psychological torture for many passengers. The bottlenecks on the Kannur-Thalassery route, especially on the Muzhappilangad-Dharmadom stretch of the National Highway, should have been cleared by now if the new Dharmadom bridge and the railway overbridge (ROB) at Muzhappilangad, the works of which are now in progress, have been completed. It is felt that completion of the Dharmadom bridge and the ROB on a war footing is the only answer to the agony of people travelling on the route by road.
