KCR party threatens to join opposition ranks in Parliament, if pushed beyond a point

NEW DELHI: Having made public its intention of drawing distance from the United Progressive Alliance, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti has communicated to the Congress that, if pushed beyond a point, it would demonstrate its intention in Parliament.

Hemmed by increasing pressure from its ranks and also the heat being generated by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, the TRS leadership has made it clear to the Congress political managers that the party would vote with the Opposition in case there was a move to bring a No-Confidence Motion against the UPA, top political sources said.

Though with five MPs, the TRS would not be in a position to jeopardise the Manmohan Singh-led coalition Government, such a move by an ally would be an embarrassment, which the Congress can do without.

TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao and A. Narendra, both Ministers in the Manmohan Singh Government, have come under attack from its ranks for continuing in the Council of Ministers while there is no forward movement on separate Telangana.

Significantly, Mr. Rao had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last week,which was followed by visit by AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh to Mr. Rao's residence on Saturday. After his meeting, Mr. Digvijay Singh said that there was no easy solution and discussions were on.
