CHANDIGARH: A police constable, reportedly belonging to the Haryana CID, was caught outside the residence of the Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan, in Panchkula near here on Tuesday afternoon under "suspicious circumstances.'' The former Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, and his elder son, Mr.Chander Mohan, expressed "surprise'' over the "surveillance'' on them. They said that the matter would be brought before the Congress High Command. However, in a statement, the Additional Director General of Police(CID), P.V. Rathee, denied the reports being broadcast by some TV channels that a spy identified as Constable Yogesh of Haryana Police had been caught while chasing the convoy of Mr.Chander Mohan, near his Panchkula residence. Mr. Rathee maintained that it was the duty of the Police to provide foolproof security to those who are covered under Z plus security. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter, the mobile security was also being provided to such people so that in case of any eventuality, prompt action could be taken. He asserted that no surveillance was being made at Mr.Chander Mohan's residence and the constable was on his routine duty. He further said that such type of security arrangement by deploying police personnel in plain clothes had also been made at the residence of the Haryana Chief Minister to keep a close eye on the activities of anti-social elements. He stated that following the arrest of a militant by the Kaithal Police recently, the security had been tightened at the residences of Mr. Bhajan Lal at Panchkula, Hisar and Delhi.
