Demand to increase seats in DU
Addressing the agitating students, K.J. Josemon, national president NSC, said University education in India was largely becoming a luxury for a privileged few. Rural and urban poor were deprived of their right to have higher education and only 7 per cent of the youth have access to University education, he said.
PWD to construct two foot over bridges
While taking a round of the main Mathura Raod, Dr. Walia observed that pedestrians were finding it difficult to cross the road. He announced that PWD would construct two foot over bridges on Mathura Road near Hari Nagar Ashram and Soochna Bhawan.
Korean Ambassador calls on Sheila
Both Ms. Dikshit and Mr. Jung-Li interacted on issues related to civic services. Mr. Jung-Li evinced keen interest in the infrastructure development in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. He also wanted to be apprised about development of number of cities in the National Capital Region. The Korean Ambassador also expressed a desire to share expertise available in his country for development of a reliable public transport system including monorail, infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games and waste management in Delhi.
Video conferencing
NCERT has initiated the training of teachers of Central Board of Secondary Education-affiliated schools on how to use textbooks through the video-conferencing mode utilising EDUSAT.
