Scholarship for bright students

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to award Rajiv Gandhi scholarship to the brilliant students of Government Schools, the Education Minister, Phool Chand Mullana, said here on Tuesday.

He said that this scholarship would be given to the students of Class I to XII who stand first in their schools. Students of Class I to VIII would receive a scholarship of Rs. 750 while students of Class nine to twelve would get Rs. 1,000.

The School Education Department had already made it mandatory to pass English and Mathematics at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. And to provide quality education to the students, semester system had been introduced in the schools from sixth to twelfth classes during the current academic session. At present, 151 Senior Secondary Schools had been linked through EDUSAT. It was proposed to connect all Senior Secondary Schools with EDUSAT during the current financial year.
