BJP unhappy with measures for flood relief in State

Staff Reporter

`Chief Minister must pressure Centre to extend more funds'

ANANTAPUR: State secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party N.V.S.S. Prabhakar alleged that the State Government had completely failed in providing relief to the flood-hit people in eight districts.

Talking to newspersons here on Tuesday he said more than three lakh people were displaced and rendered homeless but relief had not reached them so far.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had not announced any relief so far and the response from the Centre for assistance sought by him was also cold.

He urged the Dr. Reddy to build pressure on the Centre to extend as much assistance as possible.

On tenders for the second phase of Handri-Neeva project the BJP leader alleged that officials and engineers of the project had colluded with the contractors.

Besides, the politicians and factionists had their way in dictating terms to contractors to file tenders by quoting bids with 20 per cent excess rates.

He requested the Government to scrap the tenders
