VIJAYAWADA: A 21-year-old girl, a B.Tech final year student of Devineni Venkataramana and Dr. Hima Sekhar MIC College of Technology, Kanchikacherla, jumped into the Krishna from Prakasam Barrage on Tuesday. The Tadepalli police said Dasari Ramana came to the barrage with another girl in the evening. Even as the passers-by were looking on, the girl jumped into the river downstream and was soon washed away by the gushing floodwaters. The police found that Ramana was the daughter of Balakrishna, a retired superintendent of stores in Vijayawada Police Commissionerate.
