CPI call to observe `Achutha Menon Day'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan has called upon party cadres to observe August 16 as `C. Achutha Menon Day' to remember the former Chief Minister who worked for the rapid growth of the State.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Mr. Bhargavan pointed out that Achutha Menon was uncompromising in his commitment to the welfare of the masses and a model leader of coalition governance in the State. He was never constrained by sectarian attitudes and he firmly believed that Kerala could progress only if there was rapid growth in agricultural and industrial sectors, the CPI State secretary said.
