TCL plans unit in India

NEW DELHI: Chinese consumer electronics major TCL on Tuesday unfolded it ambitious expansion plans envisaging the setting up of a global manufacturing facility and boosting its colour television set sales in India to one million pieces to garner a market share of 10 per cent by next year. "From a global perspective, India is a key location not only as a market but also as a manufacturing hub. At present, a feasibility study is on to set up a manufacturing unit here," TCL India Holdings Managing Director, Richie Liu Hongqi, told media persons on the occasion of the launch of the company's products.

The company planned to open 30 TCL exclusive showrooms and 94 service centres, said TCL India Vice-President, C. M. Singh.
