Of Sri Soundararaja Perumal Temple at Vadamadurai near Dindigul

DINDIGUL : Hundreds of devotees at Vadamadurai and in several villages around it took part in the holy car procession of Sri Soundararaja Perumal Temple at Vadamadurai near here on Wednesday.

This festival was part of the 13-day Adi mega festival that commenced on August 1, with flag hoisting.

To begin with, special abishekam using holy water brought from Azhagarmalai was performed to the main deity.

Later, Lord Soundararaja Perumal along with Goddesses were ascended on a mount and taken out in a procession around the temple.

Special pujas were performed at the main mandpam. At an auspicious time, the deities were mounted on the holy car.

Earlier, special pujas were also performed to the aesthetically decorated holy car.

With the banging of percussion and singing of holy hymns, the devotees drew the car through the four Rath Streets.

The celestial wedding of Sri Soundararaja Perumal with Sri Devi and Sri Boodevi took place on Monday.

The Lord would be mounted on a pearl palanquin and taken out in a procession on Friday.

The mahasamprokshanam was performed to this temple on February 10, after a gap of 53 years. Separate sannadhis for Sri Chakkarathazhavar, Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar, Sri Anjaneyar, Sri Andal were opened at the temple.

Six kaala pujas were performed to Sri Soundaraja Perumal, main deity, at the temple.
