New district judge takes charge

ANANTAPUR: K. Giddenna assumed charge as the District and Sessions Court Judge here on Wednesday.

In-charge Judge V. Chandrasekharan, who was holding additional charge since the retirement of S. Chinnaiah on June 30, handed over charge to the new judge.

Presiding judges of all subordinate courts here and senior bar association members were present on the occasion.

Prior to his new posting on promotion Mr. Giddenna was working as the first additional district judge at Ongole.

Office bearers

Meanwhile, B. Haranath was unanimously elected president of Bar Association of Anantapur on Wednesday. B.C. Laxman and Mallikarjuna were elected vice-presidents, Subbanna joint secretary and J.C. Narasimhulu treasurer, all unopposed. One more joint secretary will also be chosen unanimously later.

Election to the general secretary post of the bar association will be held later this month. Narayana Reddy, Ravikumar Reddy and Sreenivasulu are in the fray.
