BHOPAL: The ongoing exhibition of random sketches by amateur artist Ishita Mohanty at Bharat Bhawan, the multi-arts complex in the State capital, has been praised and acclaimed by a cross-section of visitors to the art gallery. Ishita excels in creating a level of detail with minimum contrasting strokes. A visitor to the Bharat Bhawan art gallery where her sketches are on display from August 6 to 13 said: "Her lines in charcoal and graphite appear to flow with unpremeditated ease". At times, her drawings almost overlap the sphere of painting as she applies the tonal effects of a painting to the art of the pencil. She focuses on the solitary human face, more particularly the eyes, to portray tranquil moments and deeper human feelings. Ishita, who has won several national and State level awards in painting, said that she has been sketching since she was eight.
