Harsh Vardhan
NEW DELHI: Stating that the Congress-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Government had unleashed a rein of terror in the name of illegal and unauthorised constructions, Delhi Pradesh BJP president Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday demanded immediate implementation of the Tejinder Khanna Committee report in letter and spirit along with the amnesty scheme of the Malhotra Committee report. In a statement here, Dr. Vardhan said Chief Secretary R. Narayanaswami had issued orders to the MCD Deputy Commissioners to speed up demolition work. "He had also ordered demolition of additional constructions done by the people during the past few months. This is totally an anti-people step by the Delhi Government," he added. Seeking implementation of the Tejinder Khanna Committee report with immediate effect, Dr. Vardhan sought to know the reason for delay in implementation of the report and finalisation of the Master Plan for Delhi-2021. "Steps should be taken to provide immediate relief to the people who are once again faced with the prospect of demolitions," he added. He also criticised the decision of the Union Urban Development Ministry to constitute a committee under former Chief Secretary K.K. Mathur. This committee will recommend to the Ministry what action should be taken on the unauthorised construction in posh colonies and farmhouses.
