Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in TV Pet area on August 11 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Donation to Senate House renovation

Chennai Petroleum Corporation has donated Rs. 10 lakh towards the renovation of Senate House in the Madras University premises. CPCL managing director K.K. Acharya handed over the cheque to S. P. Thiagarajan, Vice- Chancellor on August 8.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was conducted by the Blood Bank of Indian Red Cross Society's Tamil Nadu branch on August 7 at Johnson Lifts in Anna Nagar. The camp was organised by Johnson Lifts officials.

Eye check-up

Aravind Sai Eye Hospital screened more than 700 persons last week at eye screening camps conducted at West Tambaram, Chenerkuppam, Adambakkam, Indian Bank on PH Road and Maduvankarai. More than 90 were operated for cataract at Aravind Sai Eye Hospital in Pammal.

Spoken English classes

Sundara Superlearning Systems will offer spoken English classes on every weekend at Saraswathy Venkataraman Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Main Road in Tiruvanmiyur. Inter-collegiate

festival

Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College organised an inter-collegiate festival on August 5. Honorary secretary Gautam Vaid inaugurated it. Cynosure 2006 was an ideal platform for students to exhibit their talents as well as abilities.

Scholarship test for CAT aspirants

Career Launcher, trainers for the Common Admissions Test (conducted for admissions to top B-schools) is conducting an all-India Aptitude Test for CAT 07 aspirants across 50 cities. Samriddhi is a national level management aptitude test, which enables the MBA aspirants to understand their strengths, weaknesses and current level of aptitude vis-à-vis their aspirations towards going for an MBA.

It includes a psychometric test that helps the students understand the specialisation needed to plan their careers. Later, the students will undergo personal counselling for planning out preparations for CAT 2007.

The Samriddhi scholarship test will be conducted

Music competition
