KOCHI: The Cable TV Service Providers Forum and Cable TV Operators Association have decided to hike the monthly subscription of cable TV starting this October. According to Forum office-bearers, there will be an increase up to Rs.50 in the monthly bills and the hike is being made to meet the increasing operating expenses. The pay channels are charging a monthly fee of Rs.287 per connection. The Cable TV Operators Association has also planned to hike the subscription by at least 35 per cent to meet the operational expenses. The increasing network upgradation cost has also made the rate hike inevitable, said K. Vijayakrishnan, general secretary of the association.
