Hyderabad: Thirtynine top companies from private and Government sectors will participate at the centralised apprenticeship training selections for Intermediate vocational pass outs on Saturday and Sunday. The programme, organised by the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Chennai, along with the Commissionerate of Intermediate Education, will be held at the Government Junior College for Girls, Nampally, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The organisations will be paying a stipend of Rs. 1,090 per month to the selected candidates.
Amount sanctioned
Speaking to the reporters, D. Chakrapani, Commissioner and Director of Intermediate Education, said 290 more sections would be added to the existing 1,680 sections in 380 Government colleges providing intermediate vocational training. The Government had sanctioned Rs. 20 crores for the purpose. Efforts are also on to start short-term vocational courses in Government colleges that were the prerogative of private institutes only. There are 57 short-term courses of three, six and one-year duration and 33 long-term courses of two years duration being offered currently. The courses include insurance, banking, computer graphics etc.
50,000 students
Almost 50,000 students are receiving training under the programme across the State. Last year, 3,500 students were selected and placed for apprenticeship training.
