KOCHI: The city police have arrested one person on charges of cheating. The arrested has been identified as John Philip, 35, of Nilamboor, Malappuram. According to the police, the accused was staying on a rented house at Maradu. He forged the title documents of the house in which he was staying and tried to sell it to Jose Mathew of Thiruvalla. The accused also collected Rs.25 lakhs in advance of the total Rs.45 lakhs for which the house was to be sold. However, the complainant grew suspicious when the accused refused to turn up to complete the registration process. On inspection, it was found that the document was forged. Based on the complaint filed by Mr. Mathew, the accused was arrested from Vytilla.
