Young poet to launch his first collection

Sandeep, a native of Kozhikode now doing M.Sc. (physics) in a college under Cochin University of Science and Technology has created a stir in literary circles even before he has launched his first collection of poetry.

"Sheer echoes of time", his first book of poems, will be released in Kozhikode on Saturday. Poet Akkitham will release the book.

Sandeep writes with ease in English. Ayyappa Panicker, writer, has given his poems high rating.

Dr. Panicker says: "Sandeep Kalathimekkad is blessed with the inborn gift of poetry, which is well borne out by the 36 short poems in this book (Sheer Echoes of Time)... he has a sure sense of what he feels; he is fast acquiring a talent for crafting his compositions. He has a way with words which become animate in his hands... sometimes playful, sometimes sad and serious... "

Though only in early stages of poetic life, Sandeep is able to invest his poems with a philosophical flavour.

The poem "Planting a heart inside, and suicide" which deals with the plight of a terrorist had entered the final round in the International Open Poetry Contest 2002.
