Coal India gets new Chairman

KOLKATA:
The Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL), Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee, has been named as the next Chairman of the public sector Coal India Ltd (CIL). The Union Coal Ministry has already issued the necessary order.
Mr. Bhattacharjee, who joined CIL in 1977 as a management trainee, rose from the ranks, moving on to another CIL subsidiary, Western Coalfields Ltd., as Director, Finance, in 2001. He became BCCL's CMD in 2004.
Currently attending an advanced management programme in Oxford in the U.K., he is slated to assume his new responsibilities in the first week of October for a five-year term.
The present Chairman Shashi Kumar's term ends on September 30.
