`Disturbing scenes' during an eight-hour road journey from the State capital to Ottappalam has prompted noted film director and actor K. Balachandra Menon to come up with a documentary on road safety. Titled `Road is our own Right,' the 30-minute documentary highlights the use and misuse of the road network in the State. "Road journey during the shooting of `Raapakal' prompted me to come up with the documentary. It highlights the point that roads are meant for transport and travel and not for other odds," says Mr. Menon who has conceived, produced and directed the documentary. Produced in Malayalam and English versions, Mr. Menon has done the narration for the Malayalam version and Vijaya Menon for the other. The documentary was screened before an invited audience in the Legislature Complex on Thursday after Speaker K. Radhakrishnan happened to see the documentary. Mainly natural shots have been used in the documentary. Two-wheeler riders, truck drivers and pedestrians figure in it. The documentary is to be screened in cities with the help of the Government to create awareness among road users.
