HUBLI: A large number of devotees took part in the "Jala Rathotsava" of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji held at the tank adjoining the Siddharoodh Math here on Thursday. The idol of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji was carried in a "palaki" from the math premise to the tank in a procession amid beating of drums and chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya" by the devotees. Folk artistes from various parts of the State led the procession. They performed various episodes till the "Jala Rathotsava" was over.
Inauguration
Many religious heads witnessed the event, which was inaugurated by Sri Shivanand Bharati Swamiji of Inchal Math in Belgaum district. The "Jala Rathotsava" began after the idol of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji was placed in a specially decorated ferry. Once again chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya" filled the air along with slogans praising Siddharoodh Swamiji. As the ferry took one round of the tank, devotees threw dates and bananas over the decorated "ratha", as it is supposed to be a good omen. The math organised religious discourses as part of the rathotsav. The "Jala Rathotsava" of Siddharoodh Swamiji is an annual event which attracts devotees belonging to various castes and religion from all over the State.
