BIDAR: Left organisations staged a dharna before the house of Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Bandeppa Kashempur here on Thursday. They demanded better compensation for victims of caste violence in Chitta village in Basava Kalyan taluk. Caste Hindus in the district had committed atrocities against Dalits, they claimed. The Government was observing silence on the issue, but if it did not take steps, large-scale violence may erupt. There had been over 500 cases of atrocities in the State after the coalition Government came to power. However, the Government has neither compensated victims nor taken action against the accused in any of these cases. They said the Bidar police had failed to arrest the three main accused in the Chitta case .
