KURNOOL: Prajapitha Brahmakumari Eeswariya Vidyalay launched a campaign for world peace on the occasion `Rakshabandan' on Wednesday. Volunteers of the organisation explained the importance of peace before tying "rakshabandan". District coordinator of Vidyalay Rani interacted with journalists and tied "rakhis" to them on Thursday. She also presented "rakhis" to District Public Relations Officer S.M. Basha.
Mythology
According to her, it was a misconception that only sisters should tie it on the wrist of brother. Even wife could present `rakhi' to her husband. In mythology, Sachidevi, wife of Indra, was the first woman to present the sacred token to her husband. Further, she said the sacred token connoted protection from the evil, not necessarily outside enemies but inner ones like arrogance, greed and anger. They caused enough damage to an individual and one needed protection from them too. It was a tradition that people around an individual should give him moral courage to face critical situations in life. And "rakshabandan" was an exercise in that direction. This year "rakshabandan" is celebrated for spreading peace in the world. According to Ms. Rani, if an individual could keep himself in a peaceful state for one minute in an hour, the concept would radiate throughout the world. The control over oneself for a minute would later transform the life.
