LONDON: Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem claimed five wickets to spin India to a comprehensive 249-run win over England in the third U-19 Test at the Denis Compton Oval, Shenley on Wednesday. The sixteen-year-old from Bokaro picked five for 41 as England, set a target of 447, was skittled out for 197 in 105.5 overs.
Defiant O'Shea
A defiant half-century by Michael O'Shea kept England's hopes of snatching a draw alive but the innings came to an end soon after the dismissal of the 18-year-old right-handed batsman from Glamorgan. O'Shea, who struck a valuable 39 in the first innings, scored 56 and kept the Indians at bay as he stretched the host's total from 159 for eight to 197. The scores: India U-19 414 for nine decl. & 293 for seven decl. bt England U-19 261 & 197 (M. O'Shea 56, A. Lyth 30, S. Nadeem five for 41, K. Singh three for 26). PTI
