NEW DELHI: More than a month after FIA, the world governing body for motor sport, asked the warring Indian associations, the Motor Sports Association of India (MAI) and the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) to merge, the two have made little headway in that direction. The September 1 deadline set by FIA, after a meeting of its World Motor Sports Council in Paris on July 6, is just 20 days away but the MAI and the FMSCI are still to solve the issues. The FIA had directed MAI and FMSCI to come together under the chairmanship of Vijay Mallya, who apparently is holding the post of chairman in both the bodies. The Government recognises the FMSCI as the apex body to run motor sport in India, while FIA had appointed MAI as the sporting authority in India. Sports Reporter
