Sreesanth is brand ambassador of Muthoot Pappachan Group

BANGALORE: Kerala-based Muthoot Pappachan Group will use its new brand ambassador and Indian speedster S. Sreesanth in a spate of commercials to promote its growth plans in the country. MPG's business interest spans financial services, hospitality-infrastructure and wind power.

At a media meet here on Wednesday, Sreesanth said: "It's a privilege to be associated with Muthoot Pappachan Group. They have been instrumental in nurturing cricketing talent in Kerala with the Ernakulam Cricket Club, which is being sponsored by them."

Turning to the forthcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, Sreesanth said, "I am looking forward to the tour after a very useful training camp here. I hope to deliver my best."

DAC weekend races

Deccan Herald and Prajavani sponsored DAC weekend athletic meets will be conducted on September 10, 17, 24 and 30 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The meet is open to under-16 and under-13 boys and under-15 and under-12 girls. The toppers in all the four events will be given certificates and scholarship amounts ranging from Rs. 300 to 600. Corporate football

Sports Promotion Team will conduct the Airtel five-a-side football tournament in `A' and `B' divisions at the SPT Sports Centre from August 25. Entries close on August 18. Further details can be had from SPT Sports ph: 65983284 or 98805 94226).

Schools basketball

CMR National Public School will conduct an inter-school under-17 basketball tournament from Friday. About 14 schools will be participating in the championship, which concludes on August 15.
