Helping people help themselves

It is an auction for a noble cause. "Art for Concern: The Charity Auction" of leading contemporary Indian artists will be held in the Capital on August 18.

Organised by Concern India Foundation and supported by the internationally renowned Christie's, the auction will showcase the finest collection of paintings made by eminent artists. Some of the well-known participating artists include Anjolie Ela Menon, Ram Kumar, S.H. Raza, Arpana Caur, F.N. Souza and K.G. Subramanyan. A conscious effort has been made to include artists representing various styles in order to attract art lovers in Delhi.

The event is supported by Montblanc and Yes Bank and has been organised in association with ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel and Towers.

Stating that proceeds from this auction will go towards supporting their programmes for the underprivileged in the areas of education, health, community development and the environment, CEO of Concern India Foundation, Kavita Shah said: "We would like to thank Christie's, Montblanc, Yes Bank and the ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel and Towers for supporting our efforts to raise much-needed funds so that we can reach out and help more and more people. I would also like to thank all the artists who have supported us so generously."

Art for Concern -- a non-profit public charitable trust -- was started in 1991 with the objective of "Helping People Help Themselves".

It provides financial and non-financial support to development-oriented organisations working with the most vulnerable people of society.

It reaches out in various ways to over 120 grassroots organisations all across the country through its offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. -- Madhur Tankha
