HYDERABAD: The Congress has accused Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu of provoking people in flood-hit areas by alleging that the Government was lax in taking up relief work. Charging the TDP with trying to politicise the flood relief work, Congress MLAs -- G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, M. Buddha Prasad and D. M. Varaprasad Rao -- at a press conference here on Thursday said it was unbecoming of a leader like Mr. Naidu to hurl such accusations at the Government. The Government had done its best and provided timely relief to victims . "This is not the time to politicise natural a calamity," they said. They sought to remind Mr. Naidu that the then TDP Government had failed miserably in providing relief to the victims during the 1996 and 2001 floods. At that time, the Congress leaders contributed their mite in providing relief to the victims. The Telugu Desam Party leaders had no right to question the visit of AICC president Sonia Gandhi to the flood-hit areas, as she was also UPA chairperson. At another press conference, Marketing Minister B. Satyanarayana and other Congress leaders alleged that the TDP president had not changed his mindset. . APCC general secretary, D. Nagender, official spokespersons, P. Venkat Rao and N. Tulasi Reddy and others also spoke.
