CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government is all set to commission the two units of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Project on time, the Power Minister, Venod Sharma, said on Thursday in Yamunanagar. He said that the installation of a boiler drum on Thursday was a major step to achieve the target. Talking to senior officers of Haryana Power Utilities, district administration and Reliance Energy Limited after formally initiating the process of boiler drum-lifting, he said that the first unit would start power generation in November 2007 and the second unit in February 2008. The thermal units would generate 144 lakh units of electricity daily. Mr. Sharma claimed that nearly 43 per cent work of the project had been completed. With the completion of this project, Yamunanagar will have both hydel and thermal plants. The Chairman of Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Financial Commissioner (Power), R.N.Prasher, said Haryana would soon be independent in the matter of power availability. Global tenders had been called to set up a 1,000-1,200 MW Thermal Project at Hissar.
