NEW DELHI: The Delhi unit Nationalist Congress Party president, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, on Thursday demanded immediate notification of the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021 by the Union Urban Development Ministry following the decision of the Supreme Court staying the provisions of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act 2006. Addressing party workers here after taking over as the party president, Mr. Bidhuri said the United Progressive Alliance Government should move swiftly and notify the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021 before September 15 when the sealing activity will be resumed following the directions of the Supreme Court. The people of Delhi are once again faced with the threat of demolitions and sealing, he added. The dignitaries present at the oath taking ceremony of Mr. Bidhuri included Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel; former Lok Sabha Speaker and senior party leader P.A. Sangma. Mr. Bidhuri said a serious situation had arisen after the Apex Court's verdict on the new law passed by Parliament and it was all the more important that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) moves in the right direction to prevent lakhs of people from being displaced and face the threat of bulldozers. Mr. Bidhuri said it was important that the new Master Plan for Delhi is finalised and notified without any further delay. Lashing out at the BJP for spreading a misinformation campaign, Mr. Bidhuri said it was the previous NDA Government that was to be blamed for the present mess as it had failed to formulate the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 on time
