CITU observes `anti-repression' day

Staff Reporter

FIGHTING FOR WORKERS: Activists of CITU staging a demonstration as part of `anti-repression' day in Kurnool on Thursday.

KURNOOL: Activists of the CITU observed the `anti-repression' day here on Thursday as part of the nation-wide call. Union leaders E. Pulla Reddy and Gouse Desai said workers across the country were subjected to repression since the UPA Government took over. There was a serious attack on the rights of the working class, they said.

Privatisation and contract system would affect the quality of life of labour.

The incidents at a hydel generation plant in Himachal Pradesh, police action at Honda plant and the police firing on innocent Gangavaram port protesters indicated the mood of the Governments at the Centre and the State.

They said the Governments were indulging in physical attacks on work force and their rights through amendments.
