SSLC case: CBI given three more months

Staff Reporter

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday granted three more months to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete the investigation in the SSLC question paper leak case.

Justice A.K. Basheer passed the order on a petition filed by the CBI. While granting three months' time from August 1, the court observed that the investigation had to be expedited.

The case related to the leak of question papers of the SSLC examination held in March 2005 and the alleged abuse of official position by officials of the Controller of Government Examination while awarding the contract for printing of question papers from 2001 to 2005. The time set by the High Court earlier to complete the investigation expired on July 31.

In a petition, the CBI said replies of the accused persons during the investigation had been inconsistent and contradictory to each other. They had not fully disclosed facts known to them and were deliberately suppressing material fact. So, actions had been initiated for conducting scientific tests on them.
