State Agriculture Awards announced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Dairy Development C. Divakaran and Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran said on Thursday that the Government proposed a series of tempered interventions in the agriculture sector to solve the problems affecting the sector.

Announcing the State Agricultural Awards for 2002-03 and 2003-04 at a press conference here, they said that some of the problems would be addressed immediately. There would be interactions with farmers and others. They also said that the Government would consider raising the cash prize accompanying the awards later.

The following are the winners of the awards for 2002-03:

Haritha Mithra, A.P. Venugopal, Akkulathooten Veedu, Kuthiathode, Ernakulam, Rs.1 lakh, gold medal and shield.

Karshaka Jyothi, P.G. George, Pulliyammakal, Venmony, Vannapuram, Idukki, Rs.50,000, gold medal and shield.

Karshaka Thilakam, Arulamma Sukumaran, Alunkal Veliyil, Vettakal, Cherthala, Alappuzha, Rs.25,000, gold medal and shield.
