BSNL employees stage dharna

PROTEST: BSNL employees, under the banner of Sanchar Nigam Executives' Association staging a dharna in Bellary on Thursday.

BELLARY: Members of the district unit of the Sanchar Nigam Executives' Association on Thursday staged a dharna in front of the office of the General Manager, BSNL Bellary Telecom District, to press for the implementation of their demands. The demands, among other things, included merger of 50 percent DA with basic, removal of discriminatory tax on perquisites, constitution of a wage revision committee and removal of ceiling on gratuity and bonus payments.

The dharna was in response to a call given by the National Confederation of Officers' Association (NCOA) to protest against the refusal of the Government to address their grievances or hold a dialogue with the association. Narasimhappa presidentof the district unit participated .
