IIT student found dead

CHENNAI: A 24-year-old engineering student of the IIT, Madras was found dead in hostel room in the wee hours on Thursday. Police said Boojan Rao from Andhra Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by hanging. The Kotturpuram police have registered a case.

Murdered

Babu (31) of Elephant Gate was allegedly murdered by an armed gang near Periamet on Thursday. The police said when Babu was riding his two-wheeler along with his friend Raju of Vyasarpadi, a gang chased them in a Maruti van. Babu attempted to escape, but in vain. Further investigation is on.
