CHENNAI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI), the custodian of the terminal building, has further stepped up airport security at Chennai airport following a directive from the headquarters as a sequel to the London bomb threat incident. According to AAI sources here, the aviation security is being reviewed at various levels including with representatives of the domestic and international airline and operational agencies. Accordingly the AAI is enhancing checks at varied exit and entry points besides, beefing up security at the periphery of the airport, the vantage installations in and around terminal buildings. "We are also seriously considering to reintroduce step-ladder check for passengers boarding flights at Chennai airport" AAI sources said. Already, the AAI has imposed a ban on visitors entry at both the Anna International and Kamaraj domestic terminals as part of the beefed up security measures. A spokesman said that they did not have any specific information about any flight cancellation between London and Chennai.
