In God's hand or man's hand?
A rare `puja' was performed to Hussain Sagar by the Mayor last week. With the tank filled to its brim and prediction of more rains ringing alarm bells, Teegala Krishna Reddy decided to appease the lake.
Even as an alert administration started monitoring the situation, the Mayor chose to offer prayers to ward off flooding of low-lying areas. People in the days of yore were known to pray to the local deity and offer pearls to River Musi when it was in spate. The Mayor too offered prayers at Goddess Mahankali temple in Lal Darwaza and released the `bonam' with pearls into the Hussain Sagar.
Praying for divine intervention is fine. But how about curbing man-made encroachments that cause the floods in the first place?
