HYDERABAD: Thieves took away - not jewellery or cash - but an RTC city bus that was parked at the old Central Bus Station's hangar at Gowliguda in the early hours of Thursday! The bus, a hired one of the Miyapur depot, was parked in the hangar a little after Wednesday midnight. The bus was to commence operations at 4.30 a.m. from Koti on Thursday.
Vehicle vanishes
The driver who slept in a dormitory returned to the hangar around 4.15 a.m to notice that it was missing. Two security guards, Sampath and Kiran, on duty between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. maintained that they had not seen anyone driving away the bus. There were some 55 buses parked in the hangar that night. The bus was owned by one Satyanarayana and initially the police checked whether those who advanced money to him had seized it for non-clearance of the instalments. However, it was found that the dues were being cleared regularly by the owner. This is the second time that a bus has been stolen from Afzalgunj police station area. Earlier, a bus belonging to the Pargi depot was stolen from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in August last. The vehicle was later abandoned at Siddipet and its tyres were removed. The thieves are still at large.
