HYDERABAD: A watchman died after an alleged sex worker, who ran into his hut for protection from two men, pushed him down at Banjara Hills late on Wednesday night, the police said. The victim, B. Mallesham, 30, and his family members had their dinner and were going to bed when the woman, T. Laxmi, came running into their hut around 11.30 p.m. "Mistaking her for an offender, the watchman intercepted her and asked who she was," Banjara Hills Inspector E. Shankar Reddy said. Refusing to divulge any details, the woman tried to hide in the hut. When Mallesham caught the woman and insisted on her identity, she pushed him aside. The watchman reeled and fell on his back with the rear side of his head hitting a pointed concrete ridge of a sump.
Instantaneous death
Death was instant for him. Angry family members of the victim beat up the woman before handing her over to the police. During interrogation, Laxmi admitted that she was a sex worker and two persons picked her up at Tank Bund, the Inspector said. The woman said they stopped the vehicle in a corner and started harassing her forcing her to flee, the Inspector added.
