Auto drivers go on strike

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Traffic was affected for nearly an hour on 15th Cross, Malleswaram, and adjoining roads on Thursday following a snap strike by autorickshaw drivers.

The police said that around 12.30 p.m., after a minor accident between a car and an autorickshaw on 15th Cross, 8th Main, Malleswaram, the car driver allegedly slapped the autorickshaw driver.

As the word spread, around 50 autorickshaw drivers parked their vehicles on the road and staged a demonstration, demanding action against the car driver. Senior police officials rushed to the spot and dispersed the protesters after assuring them that action would be taken against the car driver, the police said.
