TV award for P. Bhaskaran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poet P. Bhaskaran has been selected for the first "lifetime talent' award instituted by Symphony TV. This was announced at a press conference by poet O.N.V. Kurup. The award carries a cash component of Rs.50,001, a statuette and a citation. The award will presented to Mr. Bhaskaran by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan at a ceremony scheduled at the Tagore Theatre on August 14. - Staff Reporter

Funds for riverbank protection

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All grama panchayats in the district will be given Rs.50,000 each for implementing riverbank protection schemes, District Collector N. Ayyappan has announced. The money will be given from the Collector's River Management Fund.
